Jinhee Han, an accomplished composer and award-winning musician born in Seoul, has established her creative base in the dynamic cities of Boston and New York after earning her Doctor of Musical Arts. Known for her fervent commitment to pushing artistic boundaries and delving into innovative sonic realms, Jinhee is currently in the concluding year of her DMA Music Composition program at Boston University.

Jinhee's musical journey commenced in Seoul, where she attained both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Hanyang University. Seeking to broaden her musical horizons, she ventured to The New School, Mannes College, studying under the guidance of the esteemed composer Robert Cuckson, ultimately earning a Professional Studies Diploma.

With a distinctive background and unrestrained creativity, Jinhee continues to shatter conventions, captivating audiences with her evocative compositions. As she crafts profound, emotive musical languages that forge cultural and artistic connections, Jinhee assumes the role of Founder/Director for the American Women Composers Association in New York City. Here, she collaborates with a diverse array of talented musical projects, including Lilac94, The Half Moon Project, Concrete Timbre, Cobalt, and more, hailing from various countries. Additionally, she is an active member of the New York Composers’ Circle.

Jinhee's noteworthy achievements include the publication of 'We Cry' for solo clarinet by Diaphonia Edition in Italy, her inclusion in the Contemporary Music Composers Catalogue in BabelScores in 2020, and 'To My Daughter' for Bb trumpet and Bass Trombone in Women and Music, Volume 24, 2020 by the University of Nebraska Press Journals. Notable collaborations encompass events such as Habitat Home NYC 2019 and 'The Moments in this Time' 2020, a Tokyo to New York project. Jinhee has received awards for commissioned work, such as the Bostonian Lab1 for Geo Mun Go ensemble and the premiere by LAMI ensemble in Korea on July 1st, 2021.

Most recently, Jinhee was honored with 'The School of Music Award' as the winner of the 'Orchestra Composition Competition' at Boston University. She also received a department honor for her exceptional contributions to the field. Having graduated in January 2024 with a DMA in Music Composition from Boston University, Her creative journey encompasses various visual art and architectural influences, skillfully woven into the captivation of sound-sculpting in sonic fiction, defining her current focus in composition.
